Correspondence Course
Thurs. 11/17 6-7:30PM
At StudioSTL, we adore blogs, emails and tweets as much as the next writer. However, in this workshop, we'll try sending some joy through the mail the old-fashioned way. Join pen-pal & letter-writer Nicky Rainey to send postcards, invent original chain letters, and make mail art. Please bring the mailing addresses of at least three friends or family members. -
Bookmaking & Reflections of the Buddha
Sat. 12/3 10AM-12PM
Grand Center neighbors StudioSTL and The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts join forces for two hours of writing, art viewing, and bookmaking. Workshop leaders Nicky Rainey (StudioSTL) and Amy Broadway (the Pulitzer) will lead us through the Pulitzer's exhibition Reflections of the Buddha, containing Buddhist works from the second to eighteenth centuries. We will create stories based on the art we see. We will view a sutra from China's Ming dynasty as inspiration for a bookmaking project. Back at the Studio, we'll craft books and write art-inspired stories in them. Note: Participants will meet at the Centene building, and we'll walk to the gallery together.
