in-school programs

Our past in-school programs collaborated with local educators to provide a classroom (or several) with an in-depth program that explores their personal writing styles and ideas.
- Matt Picard, a Teach for America teacher at Curtis Bishop Middle School in Wellston, worked with us to produce How My Life Has Been Since I Got Older, a collection of poetry from his 7th grade class. Published in 2008 with the help of the Missouri Arts Council , this book is for sale at local retailers or in our online shop.
- Staci Christian and Andrew Gallagher, at Clyde C. Miller Career Academy in St. Louis, worked with us to publish Anthology II: The Story Lies Behind The Eyes, a collection of personal narratives and stories from their junior English classes. Published in 2009 with the help of the Deaconess Foundation and the Incarnate Word Foundation, this book is also available at local retailers, libraries, and in our online store.
- Allison Wiseman, a Teach for America placement at Eskridge High School in Wellston, worked with us to produce Pentimento, video stories written, shot, edited and produced by freshmen and sophomores. These stories were funded by Kresge Arts in St. Louis - A partnership of the Kresge Foundation, the Arts and Education Council and the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation, and by The Trio Foundation of St. Louis, and are available to view at www.pentimento.tv.

summer camp
For our Tall Tale Truth newspaper summer camps we gather journalists, ink slingers, carpetbaggers, cartoonists, reporters, photographers, editors, writers, or wordsmiths interested in a good time and free snacks to help us craft the next edition of the Tall Tale Truth Newspaper. Whichever desk you end up on, you work with professionals in the newspaper biz twice a week to get the job done the way YOU want to do it. From research to interviews, from writing to editing stories, from taking pictures to designing layout and more, there's something for everyone.
